announce that we have just received a Silver Award
from the Green Business Tourism Scheme.

Monsal Trail
In the spring
the Monsal Trail was re-surfaced. It is now
excellent for bikes, buggies and wheelchairs. We
have a bike shed and so encourage our guests to
bring their bikes with them.
Birds
Over the last couple of months we have been
watching the birds in our garden. We have counted
24 species - the most exciting are gold finch
which have returned after a couple of years
absence and woodpeckers.
Lambing
Lambing is due to start at Churchdale Farm on
14 March. We generally keep the Mother and new
born lambs inside for 24 hours and then they are
moved into our fields to enjoy tasting the new
spring grass. Our guests generally thoroughly
enjoy walking up the drive and watching the lambs
playing around in the fields.
January 2009
All the cottages now
have flat screen televisions with all the free sat
options.
The kitchen in Derwent has been
altered and it now boasts a lovely oak dining
table and cream floor.
Chatsworth
The Christmas Displays at Chatsworth run from
1 November to 23 December. This year the theme is
The First Noel, inspired by the silhouette
illustrations in Jan Pienkowski's classic
Christmas Book. If you book a holiday at
Churchdale during this period we will give you 2
free entry tickets to Chatsworth so you can visit
the display. The shops at Chatsworth are also
wonderful for Christmas Shopping and the Farm Shop
has a special marquee open with Christmas Food.
The Monsal Trail
For
those of you who watched the recent television
programme about the Monsal Trail - had you
realised that you can walk from our cottages and
join the trail at the bottom of our drive for
either a full days walking or a bike ride.
The Duchess
The film the
Duchess about the 18th Century Duchess of
Devonshire was released on 5 September, starring
Kiera Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Much of the
filming was done in Derbyshire at Chatsworth and
Kedleston Hall. Visit Churchdale and enjoy a SET
JETTING HOLIDAY, as featured in the Daily Express
on Saturday 6 September.
Heating in Derwent and Wye Cottages
On 17 November we are installing a brand new
electric heating system in these cottages which
will replace the existing night storage heaters.
This will give our guests much more flexibility
and it will also be a greener option.

bedded room has become very spacious single room.
